Week 5: Booze on First? Crashed Hard

It was a rough day for Booze on First?, as Wedding Crashers (2-1-1) rushed out to a 4-0 lead in the 2nd inning. Scoring 8 runs in the 3rd inning would triple Wedding Crasher's lead. There was a glimmer of hope in the fourth inning when Ashley Harts kicked a single to send Jessica "Jess #1" Smith home to give Booze on First? their first and only run. Tim Kenyon would go 3 for 3 at the plate to kick 1.000 for the second straight game, but Wedding Crashers (who only fielded 9 players) would eventually win by a score of 15-1.

Booze on First? (1-2) will have another late game this Thursday, April 23rd, when they face First Time Ballers (3-0) at 8:00.

Week 4: Booze on First? Edged Out by Balls to the Wall

Charlotte, NC - After three weeks of rain outs, Booze on First? faced off against Balls to the Wall last Thursday. The first four innings were kept scoreless with Kevin "Crabman" Canada allowing only two hits and striking out one kicker. Steady fielding by Booze on First?, including catches by Steve Sorenson and Doug McClure (who was put on injured reserve in the first game due to an unfortunate work meeting), kept Balls to the Wall hitless the first four innings. Steve Sorenson, Loren "Lo" Beldegreen, Tim Kenyon, and Carissa Foley accounted for Booze on First?'s four hits in the first four innings.

The stalemate would end in the top of the fifth inning when Balls to the Wall (2-0) answered with a single sending a runner on third home. On a side note; team manager, Jessica Abbott, recorded her first hit with a single in the bottom of the fifth inning. The away team would also score in the top of the 6th inning to give the game its final score of 2-0 giving Booze on First? (1-1) its first and hopefully only loss of the season.

The game was never out of reach for Booze on First?. The home team outkicked Balls to the Wall 8-7. Michael Privette and Tim Kenyon accounted for half of the team’s kicks, both going 2 for 2 at the plate to kick 1.000. Unfortunately, with runners in scoring position, Booze on First? could not capitalize.

After the game, Booze on First? was welcomed at Angry Ales by their unofficial sponsor Miller Lite, where the team was treated to three buckets of Miller Lite tall boys. "This numbs the pain of today's loss and helps put all of our focus on next week's victory," stated Jessica Abbott.

"We are going to have a hard practice this week, focusing on our kicking. We are going to put our balls deep in the outfield next week! True Story." Reported roller Kevin Canada at the post-game press conference at Angry Ales.

Booze on First? will hit the diamond Thursday, April 16th at 8:00, where they will face off against Wedding Crashers (1-1-1).

Week 3: Last Thursday's Double Header Cancelled

Booze on First? will play Suck My Kick (0-0), the first game of last week’s cancelled double header, at 8:00 followed by Balls Out (1-0) at 8:45. The second game of last week’s double header against Balls to the Wall (1-0) will be made up Thursday April 9th at 6:30.

In other news, it seems Booze on First? has already found themselves in the middle of some controversy. Officer Paul Blart of the parks and recreation department reportedly confronted the team while they were engaging in questionable substances before Thursdays rained out game.

When questioned about these allegations, manager Jessica Abbott answered, "That's gay." Roller Kevin Canada responded, "Your momma!" and outfielder Doug McClure stated that he was new in town. More statements from Booze on First? to follow.
